Ghana qualified for their first ever World Cup in 2006, and since then, have only failed to qualify once and this time around a 1-1 aggregate scoreline against Nigeria was enough to see them cross the line on away goals. Despite only 3 previous appearances, Ghana have made it out of the Group Stages twice, their best performance being an infamous quarter final match up against Uruguay where Asamoah Gyan missed a penalty at the death after Suarez had handled deliberately on the line, and Uruguay progressed on penalties. By their standards, they have quite a disastrous African Cup of Nations campaign earlier this year, where they picked up just one point and failed to progress ahead of the likes of Comoros and Gabon in their group.

Player to Watch

22 year old Kudus has been an established first team player for Ajax for a few years now and already has five goals to his name for his country after only 16 appearances. He’s already contributed to and lifted two Eredivisie trophies, and even scored in the Super Cup earlier this season. He is certainly one for the future, but with less pressure in his first World Cup appearance, he certainly has the potential to light up the tournament.
