The golden era of Belgian football looks to be coming to an end, but perhaps they have one last hurrah in them. Qualifying went very smoothly for them as they finished top of their group without losing a single game, finishing a point ahead of Austria. They conceded only four goals in their eight games on the way to qualifying for their third straight finals. They’ve been dumped out at the quarter final stage in the last two tournaments though, losing out to eventual champions Italy last time out. The pressure is on following their disappointing outing in the World Cup a few years ago where they came third in their group behind Morocco and Croatia as they missed out on the Round of 16. They should be quietly confident of going further this time around though.
Player to Watch

Kevin De Bruyne
De Bruyne will be turning 33 over the course of the tournament this year, and the captain will surely be the main man that Belgium will need to be on point for if they are to go far in this competition. Four of the top ten players ranked by all time international caps are still active for Belgium, and there may not be too many more years of these players playing together. It is no coincidence that Man City’s surge towards the summit of the Premier League came when De Bruyne returned from injury.
