Best Performance
Scotland managed to qualify for their second successive European Championships fairly comfortably with two games to space, and finished the campaign in second spot, four points behind Spain, who they actually managed to defeat at home. But recent form is not on their side; they have lost their last four friendly games prior to the end of the domestic season by an aggregate score of 2-12, including a 0-1 defeat at home to Northern Ireland, and Steve Clark’s young side are likely to require some huge results if they’re to make it out of the group stages for the first time in their history in a major tournament. They picked up just one point, against eventual finalists England, in their last European Championships but with some third place finishers able to qualify for the Round of 16, they could be quietly confident.
Player to Watch

Scott McTominay
The 27 year old midfielder featured in every Scotland qualifying match, where he started all but one game, and ended the campaign as the nation’s top scorer with seven goals. He has a slightly different role to that of his club where he is allowed to attack a lot more, and it’s a tactic that has paid dividends in qualifying. His goals are a must for a side a little shy on firepower up front.
