Best Performance

Despite not having qualified for a World Cup since 1998, Austria are featuring in their fourth European Championships in five, and last time around, they managed to reach further than ever before in the tournament by reaching the Round of 16 thanks to group stage wins over Ukraine and North Macedonia, though they did lose to Netherlands, who they face again this summer in the group stages. Austria finished second in their qualifying group after winning six out of eight games, and eventually only finished a point behind Belgium. Ralf Rangnick has seemingly got this team playing to their potential; in their last friendly matches before the end of the season, Austria picked up a 6-1 win against Turkey and 2-0 wins against Slovakia and Germany.
