Georgia are making their maiden appearance at a major tournament this summer despite having finished fourth in their qualifying group, and thanks to the UEFA Nations League, managed to make it to the playoffs. After dispatching Luxembourg in the semi-finals, they came up against Greece, and their stubborn defence stopped the Greeks from finding the net in normal and extra time. In fairness, they were the better side and they were allowed to celebrate a famous 4-2 win. Georgia have risen up two divisions in the space of three UEFA Nations League campaigns and you wouldn’t put it past them to move into Group A in a year’s time.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia
The twenty three year old is undoubtedly the star of this squad; Napoli have had a really disappointing season by their standards, but Kvaratskhelia was one of the star performers, finishing second to Victor Osimhen in the club’s scoring charts. He was also top scorer for Georgia in qualifying with four goals in ten games and he is already the third highest scorer in history for his nation. He will be the main threat going forward in this group.
