Best Performance

Hungary had a superb qualification campaign to ensure that they made it to their third straight finals in the tournament. In their previous two, they needed the playoffs to book their spot in the main tournament, but this time around, they topped their qualification group and ended their campaign without losing once as Hungary finished four points clear of Serbia in Group G. Hungary were dumped in the Group of Death in their last European Championship outing, though they did manage to get a draw against France and Germany after losing their opening fixture to Portugal. This time around, the draw has been kinder to them, and they could be quietly confident of making it to the last sixteen. They’re unbeaten in fourteen games now, their last defeat coming in 2022 against Italy in the Nations League.

Player to Watch

Dominik Szoboszlai

The 23 year old Liverpool midfielder is already captain for his nation, and is the most expensive Hungarian footballer ever with his EUR 70m transfer last summer. He has had a decent for Liverpool, assisting them on their title chase all season, and was also the nation’s joint top scorer in qualifying with four goals to his name.
