Best Performance
Poland managed to qualify for their fifth successive European Championships by the skin of their teeth; they finished third in their group behind Albania and Czechia, and they needed to progress through the playoffs in order to make the tournament proper. Following a 5-1 demolition job of Estonia, they travelled to Cardiff and managed to progress on penalties following a goalless draw. In three of the last four Euro campaigns, Poland were knocked out in the group stages, and it’s the same case in three of their last four World Cup campaigns. A lot of their key players are reaching the twilight of their careers and this could be one the last times we see likes of Szczesny, Grosicki and Lewandowski feature for their country.
Player to Watch

Robert Lewandowski
Lewandowski boasts the most appearances and the most goals in the history of Polish football, both by remarkable margins, but the 35 year old may not have too many more tournaments left in him, so he will be looking to make his mark in Germany, the country he spent the vast majority of his career. For Bayern Munich he scored an astonishing 238 goals in 253 games, and whilst he has had a slightly quieter time at Barcelona where he will be disappointed at missing out on the league title this season, he is still hugely dangerous.
