Best Performance

Canada managed to make it through to the World Cup for the first time in 36 years when they qualified for Qatar 2022 by finishing above Mexico and USA. But it was a disappointing campaign where they lost all three games in the group stages, a record that they also suffered in Mexico in 1986. They were in competitive action last year in the Gold Cup; they finished top of their group but were knocked out in the Quarter Finals by Guatemala. Despite playing the entire second half with ten men, they forced a penalty shootout, but ultimately lost 5-6. They finished in third place in the Nations League last March too, defeating USA in the 3rd place playoff after being knocked out by eventual winners Mexico in the semi finals. All in all, Canada have proven themselves to be a nation on the rise, and particularly playing at home in the World Cup, they will be keen to get their first ever World Cup win on home soil.
