Croatia’s recent performances at the World Cup have been impressive - after reaching the final in 2018 when they were defeated by France, they made it to the semi finals four years ago where they were defeated by eventual champions Argentina, though they did go onto win the third-fourth play off against Morocco to finish the tournament in third place. Their recent outing at the European Championships ended in disappointment though, as they failed to get out of a group with Spain and Italy. In qualifying for this summer’s tournament, Croatia won seven out of eight matches to finish six points clear of Czechia - but this is also likely to be the last tournament of some legends, such as Luka Modric (40), Ivan Perisic (37) and Andrej Kramaric (34), and Croatia will be looking to go out on a high.

It would be easy to choose one of the aforementioned legends to look out for, but centre back Vuskovic is one for the future who is currently on loan at Bundesliga side Hamburg from Tottenham Hotspur. He scored his first goal for his country in only his fourth cap for his country, which came in March against Colombia, and is sure to be one of the main features in defence, particularly considering Manchester City’s Josko Gvardiol is recovering from surgery and may not be at full fitness during the tournament.
