It has been a while since we’ve seen Norway in action in a major tournament; the last time being at Euro 2000, whilst their previous World Cup appearance was two years previous in France where they managed to make it out of the Group Stages for only the second time in their history. Things are different now though, and Norway have been producing some incredible talent that is likely to see this nation qualify for major tournaments for the foreseeable future. Norway was one of only two countries to have a 100% record in qualifying, and they did it scoring a total of 37 goals, more than any other side, despite the fact that they had Italy in their group.
Erling Haaland needs little introduction, and he is player who has consistently broken records in the Premier League for Manchester City. He scored an incredible 16 goals in qualifying, 8 more than second place and prior to that, seven goals in Norway’s Nations League campaign for their promotion into League A later this year. Haaland is averaging more than a goal per game for his country, and is already more than 20 goals clear of Norway’s second highest goalscorer of all time, Jorgen Juve, who retired in 1937. He will be a sight that no opposition defence will want to see.
