Best Performance

Despite the fact that they have only featured in the World Cup once since 1994, Slovakia managed to qualify for their third successive European Championships by finishing second to Portugal in their qualifying group a full five points clear of Luxembourg in third. Their manager Francesco Calzona combined his role of managing this national side whilst also managing Napoli since February, at least as interim manager, following to their disastrous start to the season. Goal difference prevented Slovakia from progressing to the Round of 16 in their last European Championship outing, a 0-5 defeat to Spain being the main culprit, though they did manage to pick up a good win against Poland.

Player to Watch

Milan Skriniar

The 29 year old defender who moved to PSG last summer after six seasons at Inter Milan has had a great season for the French side as they stormed the Ligue 1 campaign and had a rather good run in the UEFA Champions League too. His experience at the back will be sure to be a key factor behind how far this side can progress, but they should be quietly confident of getting some positive results this time around under his leadership.
