Best Performance
It has been 14 years since Slovenia last qualified for major tournament, and their only ever previous appearance at a European Championships came twenty four years ago. There have been some play off defeats during that stint, but this time, they managed to qualify automatically by finishing second in their group, level on points with table toppers Denmark. In what was probably the closest qualifying group of all, Finland and Kazakhstan chased Slovenia all the way, whilst Northern Ireland had previous experience in major tournaments too, but seven wins in ten games ensured they would make it to Germany.
Player to Watch

Benjamin Sesko
Sesko only just turned 21 years of age, but is being touted as a future world beater given the form he is in. After scoring 16 goals in 30 goals for Salzburg two seasons ago, Sesko joined RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga and has lit the league alight with some sterling performances where he has netted 10 goals in the league as they mounted their push for Champions League football. He was the country’s top scorer in qualifying with 5 goals and there will be a lot of eyes on him in this tournament.
