Best Performance
Despite never boasting any massive names, Switzerland feel like a staple inclusion in major tournaments; they’ve qualified for five of the last six European Championships and each of the last five World Cups, and this time around, they finished second in their Qualifying Group I to reach the finals. Having already guaranteed themselves a spot in the Germany, Switzerland’s only defeat in qualification game against Romania in their final game, who went on to finish above them in the group. In their last Euros, they went further than they have ever managed in the tournament, reaching the quarter final stages. A win against France in the Round of 16 was a particular highlight in the tournament where they came back from 1-3 down with 10 minutes to go to force a penalty shoot-out and prevailed thanks to Mbappe missing the only spot kick. They couldn’t repeat the feat in the next round after they were knocked out by Spain, again on penalties.
Player to Watch

Granit Xhaka
31 year old Xhaka is already the most capped player for Switzerland and he is still going strong. Xhaka moved from Arsenal to Bayer Leverkusen last summer, and in what is one of the most incredible team displays of the season, Xhaka helped his club side win the German Bundesliga for the first time ever, ending Bayern Munich’s run of eleven straight titles. The Swiss captain is proving that he can still do it on the biggest stage.
