Turkey were an irresistible side in qualifying, where they topped their group ahead of Croatia and Wales to qualify automatically this summer. It will be the third straight European Championships that they will have qualified for, but neither of those campaigns came close to matching their incredible run in 2008 when they reached the semi finals. Last time out, their campaign ended in huge disappointment when they lost all three matches, scoring just one goal along the way. In qualifying, they proved to be a side very tough to break down, as they lost just once in eight fixtures, but goals may again be the problem for them; no player managed to score more than two goals in qualifying.

Hakan Çalhanoğlu
Despite being born in Germany, Calhanoglu decided to represent Turkey, and as well as being eighth in the all time caps, he his ninth in the top goalscorers for the history of the nation with eighteen goals. The thirty year old captain has been plying his trade in Italy since 2017 moving from AC Milan to Inter Milan in 2021 and since has been instrumental for his club, with Inter Milan winning the title in 2024.
